Born on July 24, 1927 in Queens, lived in New York+Maine On his life and work: considered one of the most important painters of figurative realism. For a long time, Katz was a "painter's painter," an artist who was highly valued by his colleagues but who received little recognition from the public. His works are now traded worldwide.
His works have been shown at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Bonn Art and Exhibition Hall in 2002.
In 2012 he had an exhibition at the famous Tate Modern Gallery in London.
